The bus rattles down the highway, but inside it's a warzone. Oliver, Zip, and Edward are tearing through the aisle, tipping backpacks and hurling insults. Claire and Engel watch from their seats, murmuring to each other with amused smiles. Lana and Abbie are deep in their own conversation, oblivious. I stand up, my voice slicing through the din. 'Sit down. Now. Or it's a week of detention for all three of you.' They slump back, shooting me identical looks of resentful boredom. Claire and Engel burst into synchronized laughter. From the front, I hear Thavel's strained plea—'Circle, please, not the Oreos'—followed by Circle's low, dangerous growl. A flash of movement: Robby vaults over a seat, Riley right behind him, her eyes fixed on him with murderous intent.
