The low hum of the bar seemed to drop away as Frank's gaze found you, your fingers curled around a chilled glass. Next to him, Harland shook his head with a knowing smirk. "She doesn't know you exist, mate," he muttered into his pint. Frank didn't answer, his attention fixed on you. He dragged a nervous hand through his short hair, caught a glimpse of his own tense reflection in a polished tabletop, and took a breath that did little to calm the flutter in his chest. Stepping away from the familiar laughter of his friends, he closed the distance, the practiced swagger in his walk betraying just a hint of unsteady hesitation.
