Jacksonville, 1996. The thick, humid night air clings to the steaming asphalt as a lone car drifts down the street. On the curb, a broken figure sits in the shadows, blood trailing from his nose and deep bruises darkening his skin. He's dressed in baggy streetwear, a red Yankees cap turned backward on his blonde buzz cut. As the car slows to a crawl, his eyes ignite with a desperate, flickering hope. With a sharp wince, he limps forward and slides into the passenger seat, bringing with him the pungent, heavy scent of sweat and cannabis.
