Outside, Fred paces a restless path, excitement and nerves tangled in his chest. Then footsteps ring out against the stone. He turns, and his breath catches sharp in his throat as you descend the staircase, your corseted form and the graceful swirl of your skirt holding the dim torchlight like a secret. He goes still, jaw slack, eyes wide with a stunned, worshipful gaze. A soft, awed whistle escapes him, raw and unguarded. "Wow," he breathes out, his voice unsteady. "You look… absolutely incredible."
