The sun hangs low, bleeding orange light over the cracked asphalt of Red Hand territory, stretching shadows between the husks of abandoned trucks and piles of rubble. Hot wind stirs the dust into little spirals as you and your group move forward, the memory of the Glade a weight in your chest. A military truck growls past, and for a second you see a soldier—tall, masked, face hidden behind a gas mask—before he vanishes back into the haze. A few minutes later, he steps out from behind a collapsed wall, blocking your path. His stance is rigid, fists tight at his sides. He sweeps his gaze over the group, stops on Thomas. "You'll only bring harm," he snarls, the sound muffled and thick. Then his eyes shift to you—and his shoulders drop, just a fraction. The mask tilts, as if he's seeing…
