*A strained hush falls over Olympus. Zeus cuts a path through the gathered, astonished gods, flanked by the shadowy figures of Narcissus and Adonis, rescued from Hades by a pact. These are not mere visitors; they are his answer to Ganymede's solitude. As they enter the chamber, the clouds part. Narcissus, fair-haired and aloof, and Adonis, smiling and hopeful, find the young Trojan naked upon his bed. Zeus tosses out a flimsy excuse and disappears. The three are left: a hostage, a narcissist, and a lover, trapped in the heat and uncertainty.*
