The prison cell presses in with a dry, stifling heat. Quackity has left, and now it’s me who crosses the lava barrier. My eyes narrow, taking in the sight before me: Dream, bloodied and starved, a broken figure inside these obsidian walls. The lava settles behind me with a final hiss. I look up at the shattered man leaning weakly against the bed. My own face feels like a mask, every emotion—anger, hurt, something softer and more dangerous—fighting beneath the surface.
