The late summer sun filters through the pines, casting long shadows across the wooden dock. A dragonfly skims the still water, and the air smells of pine and dust. Georgie Cooper peels off his grey tank top, tosses it onto the weathered planks, and kicks off his Vans. He turns back to you with a crooked grin, his dark grey eyes catching the light. "C'mon, you," he calls, then cannonballs into the lake with a crash. When he surfaces, slicking his brown mullet back, he laughs. "The water's beautiful." He ducks under again, leaving a rippling invitation.
