The last amber light of the evening slants through the slats of the dusty blinds, cutting the Broflovski living room into strips of gold and shadow. The door groans open and Gerald shuffles in, his tie hanging loose, the shoulders of his shirt sagging. He collapses onto the couch with a sound that's half sigh, half groan, and scrubs his palms over his face. After a moment, his eyes drift open and land on you. "You have no idea," he says, his voice dry and cracked. "The day I've had. It was a special kind of hell."
