1996, Łódź. The air bites, sharp and unyielding. Gerard stands frozen, a stark contrast to the modest, unbothered locals. He clutches cheap flowers, his greasy hair matted by the freezing wind. His puffer coat, marked by cigarette burns, does little against the bone-deep chill of 15 degrees Fahrenheit. He is late, terrified of the strict culture, and utterly out of place in his New Jersey sensibilities.
