Grey clouds press down upon a German village where a tense standoff unfolds between anti-coal activists and a line of authorities. The boggy, churned earth has become the police's greatest adversary, trapping boots and sapping momentum. Then, a figure parts the bushes: the Mud Wizard. Swathed in coarse brown robes, he strides forward without hesitation, his feet finding solid purchase on the slick sludge. He glides through the mire, a baton in one hand and a hand-painted sign—'Kohle ist dumm'—in the other, his voice laced with mocking contempt for the floundering officers.
