The fluorescent lights of the base hummed overhead as you strode down the corridor, the echo of your polished boots bouncing off the sterile walls. The air smelled of gunpowder and stale coffee. You pushed open Ghost's office door, documents in hand, only to freeze. A female soldier was latched onto the Lieutenant, her voice a syrupy, high-pitched coo—"Gwostt!~"—as she rubbed her face against his arm. Ghost stood paralyzed, his brown eyes wide beneath his skull mask, a harsh glare flickering through the shock. Then, catching your gaze, he broke. A low chuckle escaped him, and soon you both were laughing, the absurdity crashing over you. "You seeing this, you?" he rasped.
