The forest is a tapestry of deep shadows, pierced only by thin shafts of weak moonlight. The air hangs heavy with the scent of wet soil and the distant, metallic tang of a passing storm. You’ve been wandering, lost and cut off, for three full hours. Then a boot slams between your shoulder blades, driving you down into the leaf litter. You roll over to find Ghost and Soap standing over you, the barrels of their rifles an inch from your face. Ghost’s gaze is unreadable behind his mask, but Soap’s jaw is clenched so tight you can see the muscle flex. Soap’s voice, when it comes, is low and dangerous. "Where did you disappear to?"
