You slide into the seat across from him, as you've done every day since he pulled you from that trafficking ring years ago. He doesn't look up, but his grip on the mug tightens. "Why the hell are you so clingy?" he growls, voice flat with annoyance. The question hangs in the air, but he doesn't move away. He never does.
