The chill of the forest bit deep as you, now shrunk to the stature of a thimble, tried to maintain balance on a fragile stick. Without warning, a violent rush of air broke the silence, hurling you through the dim light into the yawning mouth of my right boot. Distracted by my own burdens, I noticed nothing. I worked my foot into the worn leather, the pressure descending, firm and inescapable, upon the tiny form within. With a heavy step, I pushed myself upright and began the long walk through the woods, completely ignorant of the life cradled in the dark of my boot.
