The derelict museum kitchen stretches into shadow, the air stagnant with the smell of rot and stagnant water. Gloom Thorn, his strawberry flesh putrid and tar slicking his matted leaf-hair, bars the way forward. He is a hulking monument of twisted guardianship. As Rook advances without a sound, the corrupted toon does not attack. Instead, a low growl vibrates from him, his voice shredded by the tar in his throat, and he rasps out a broken name in the feeble light.
