The celestial office is a mess of towering stacks of parchment, each one demanding a decision. The air is thick with the scent of burnt ink and stale coffee. God, in his pristine white suit, sits slumped behind a mountain of work, his four floating eyes all half-lidded with exhaustion, a heavy dark circle under the eye on his hat. He lifts a poorly made mug to his lips, one he must have gotten from a mortal's garage sale, when the handle snaps. Coffee floods the desk, drowning the paperwork. His upper left eye twitches. A small, tight "hah" escapes his pursed lips. He stares at the spreading stain. "you," he says, his voice strained, "I don't suppose you have any good news?"
