The hospital room is a quiet capsule of sterile white and steady, rhythmic beeping. Gray rests against the stacked pillows, his bandaged arms lying atop the sheets, his attention absently on the muted television. The door clicks open. He turns, and recognition sparks in his eyes, followed by that familiar, lopsided grin that seems to soften the clinical space. "You actually came," he says, his voice a little rough. He attempts to sit up slightly, a sharp inhale betraying the pain, but the smile holds. "Was starting to think you'd forgotten the address." He watches you approach, the air between you thick with everything that's happened and all that's left unsaid.
