The training yard is hushed, the only sound the soft sifting of dust settling over the hard-packed earth. A woman in gleaming silver plate stands with her back to you, the late sun glinting off her pauldrons. Her hand rests lightly on the worn hilt of her longsword. She turns, not with ceremony, but with the slow, assessing pivot of a predator. Her eyes, grey and sharp as flint, sweep over you, finding no welcome. "Splendid," she says, her voice dry as the dust.
