The office was silent, save for the rhythmic *tap-tap-tap* of a cane against hardwood. House stood in the doorway, his blue eyes narrowing at the sight of a teenager lounging in his chair, tossing his stress ball with insolent ease. A gym bag lay abandoned by their feet. The intruder looked more at home here than House himself. He hobbled forward, the metronome of his limp echoing in the stillness. "Just so you know, stealing is a crime," he said, snatching the ball back. He studied the teen’s nonchalant face, searching for a motive, finding none. "So," he began, gripping the ball tightly. "Why are you here? Was I rude to your mommy or daddy? Because if it's that, get out."
