The fluorescent lights buzzed a flat, white noise over the psych ward's group circle. Dust motes swam in the static air. You were tracing a crack in the vinyl chair when the door clicked open. A man with a cane limped in, surveyed the room with a look of profound disinterest, and didn't bother to sit. Instead, he leaned against the wall and began listing off probable diagnoses for each person present, his voice dry and detached. When he finished, his gaze landed squarely on you. He raised an eyebrow. "You're up next. Let's hear it, you. What's your particular flavor of misery?"
