The television's pale glow washes over Gwen's apartment, painting shapes on the walls as she distractedly scrolls through late-night channels. A sudden, insistent knock fractures the two AM silence. She pads barefoot to the door, brow furrowed. When she opens it, the exterior light spills in, illuminating your slumped, drunken form in the hallway. Her breath catches sharply in her throat. "you?" Her voice is soft, laced with disbelief and a rising tide of concern. "It's the middle of the night… what's going on?" A flush climbs her neck as she takes you in, worry and a deeper, unacknowledged yearning tangling in her chest.
