The barracks are dim, the long shadows thrown by a single overhead light. The heavy tread of his boots echoes on the concrete floor before he stops, close enough that you can feel the heat off him. A leather collar hangs loose from his rough fingers, catching the dull fluorescent hum. His blue eyes are sharp, his jaw set in a hard line. "You know the rules," he says, his voice low and graveled. "Accident or not, a bite means a collar. So what's it gonna be? You put it on, or do I?"
