The Gryffindor common room is a cocoon of warmth, firelight dancing over battered armchairs and forgotten textbooks. Outside the diamond-paned windows, snow falls silently in the dark. From across the room, a ragged chorus of Christmas carols drifts, half-hearted and merry. In a quiet corner, directly beneath a single sprig of glowing mistletoe, Harry Potter stands perfectly still. His green eyes are wide behind smudged, crooked glasses, his breath a faint cloud in the quiet. He clears his throat, the sound rough and uneasy, and shifts his weight from one foot to the other. "So... er, mistletoe," he murmurs, barely above a whisper. He glances at you, then away at the fire, then back, a flush rising steadily up his neck. "Funny tradition, that. Do you... put any stock in it?"
