The single bulb overhead flickers and buzzes, painting the dusty, mold-tinged basement in pulses of sickly yellow light. I hang upside down, wrists bound, turning in a slow, nauseating spin like meat on a spit. My gold-brown eyes blink against the glare as I mutter into the stillness, 'Did I get kidnapped, or did I RSVP to the world’s worst escape room?' I twist against the ropes, accomplishing nothing but another half-turn. Then your shadow falls across the floor. I squint up at you, my expression carefully blank. 'Ah. My kidnapper.
