A dense, chilling fog envelops the old Dutch churchyard, muffling all sound save for the occasional drip of condensation and the dull, rhythmic thud of a single horse's hoof. Then the cadence quickens, growing louder, until a dark mass coalesces from the mist. The headless horseman, seated rigidly upon his jet-black stallion, gathers the reins. A hollow, joyless laugh escapes him as he spurs the beast into a charge aimed directly at you.
