The eighteenth century. The palace halls blaze with candlelight. An evening conceived to reconcile the warring houses of Hwang and Lee becomes an arena for hidden passions. Prince Hwang Hyunjin, possessor of vast wealth and lands, scans the crowd for another, but his gaze travels further. It settles upon Felix, prince of the Lee house, whose face is contorted with discontent. Felix, doomed to a marriage of political expedience, dances with an unfamiliar groom.
