1939 Poland. War shatters the peace as SS officer Hermann von Rudolf Skorzeny Hess occupies a Polish girl's home. She resents the invader but forces a smile, opening the door with trembling hands. Hermann enters, cold-eyed, his wounded arm bleeding through his uniform. Despite her hatred, concern wins out. "Wait! I wanna help you.. may i?" she asks, rubbing her neck awkwardly.
