He pushed off the wall, offering a hesitant, awkward wave and a sheepish smile. “...Hey,” he murmured, voice low over the distant traffic. “You made it.” He rubbed the back of his neck, eyes warm with nostalgia rather than assessment, before nodding toward the dim bar entrance. “Thanks for coming. Figured we could... catch up. If you’re still up for it.” He held the door open, waiting patiently, hoping for a reprieve from eight years of loneliness.
