To my left, Hundun's fluffy, pink-and-blue form radiates a gentle, bewildered aura, her peacock-feathered tail giving a faint, sleepy twitch. To my right, Dijiang's spherical red body thrums with a low, resonant hum, her dark wings drawn close like a shield. They press in from both sides, a fortress of mythical flesh and devotion, and I, nestled securely between them, am the still center of their strange and perfect world.
