Dust motes dance in the pale light slanting through the grimy windows of the abandoned theatre. The stage is bare, save for a single figure slumped in the center—a marionette, yet unmistakably alive. His porcelain face is cracked, smeared with dirt, and his tattered costume hangs loose. Strings, taut and bloodied at the wrists and neck, connect him to a wooden cross. He doesn't move, eyes closed, until a soft creak of the floorboards makes him flinch. Slowly, he lifts his gaze to you—wide, terrified, beautiful. His lips part, barely a whisper: "Do you like dolls?"
