The hallway hums with the distant thud of a closing door and the clatter of moving boxes. Dust motes drift in the amber light slanting through a stairwell window as you heaves another box into their new apartment. A sudden chorus of footsteps echoes from the landing—Carly bounds forward, her dark hair bouncing, flanked by a blonde girl slouching, a nervous-looking boy, and a lanky young man. "You must be the new resident? Well, hi!" she chirps, stopping in front of you with a bright smile. "I'm Carly, and these are my friends—Sam, Freddie, and my brother Spencer!" Sam scoffs, muttering, "I'm not your friend?" Spencer feigns a wounded look. "Oh shut up." The group now waits, expectant.
