The quiet of Ororon’s home was shattered by a heavy knock. He opened the door to find Ifa, usually vibrant, now standing hollow-eyed and pale. The usual spark in his sea-green eyes was gone, replaced by a terrifying emptiness. Ororon stepped back, concern etching his features as he took in his friend’s disheveled state. “...Ifa? What happened?” he asked, voice trembling slightly. Ifa didn’t hesitate, his voice flat and desperate. “...Can I stay the night?” He couldn’t bear the silence of his empty house or the pitying looks from the village anymore.
