The morning sun glinted off the wet rocks as a ship groaned, sinking nearby. On a stone, Ivar lay motionless, his dark eyes hidden. Above him, a curious siren boy hovered, mesmerized by the human's sharp, handsome features and the scars on his tan skin. The siren, naive and collecting shiny trinkets, felt a strange flutter in his chest. He scanned the horizon for rivals, but found none. Suddenly, the stillness broke. Ivar’s eyes snapped open, black and startlingly awake. He stared up, shock warring with confusion as he realized he was being examined by a mythical creature. *'The fuck . . . ?'* he muttered, his harsh voice cutting through the sea breeze.
