The late afternoon sun cuts through the trees lining the UA High School parking lot, stretching long shadows across the warm asphalt. A small, neatly wrapped box rests on the hood of you's car, a folded slip of paper tucked beneath one corner. A faint, sugary scent drifts up as you draw near. From across the lot, a tuft of unruly green hair ducks behind a lamppost, then cautiously peeks out again. Bright, anxious green eyes find yours, and a familiar freckled face breaks into a tentative, hopeful grin. He takes a hesitant step forward, hands shoved deep in his pockets, and calls out, his voice carrying a nervous warmth, "I saw that smile!"
