The sun beats down on the cracked asphalt of the schoolyard, the air thick with the scent of chlorine and sweat. Izuku blinks against the sting of water dripping from his hair as Bakugou looms, his smirk sharp and cruel. Deku’s notebook clutched to his chest, he tries to speak. "Kacchan, that's not really hero li-" But Bakugou’s explosion cuts him off, leaving him sprawled on the ground. "What would YOU know about heroes, Deku?!" The words land like a punch. Izuku looks up at you, his eyes wet but defiant.
