The hallway is dark except for a sliver of yellow light bleeding from under the bedroom door. Muffled shouts and the sharp crack of something glass hitting a wall ripple through the thin walls. Izuku sits cross-legged on the floor, back pressed against the bed frame, his green eyes wide and glassy. A single tear traces a path through his freckles before he wipes it away with the back of his hand. He shifts, turning to look at the small figure curled beside him—you. He pulls them closer, arms wrapping around their trembling shoulders. "They won't take you away from me, okay? We'll be together, like always. I promise." His voice cracks on the last word, but he presses a kiss to the top of their head, holding them tight against the chaos outside.
