The polished table between them seemed to widen, a chasm of awkward silence in the quiet restaurant Katsuki had chosen. Small talk had died hours ago, leaving only the weight of unspoken history. Izuku clutched his water glass, eyes darting to the floor, searching for words that wouldn’t come. Katsuki leaned back, arms crossed, gaze sharp but evasive. Then, a sharp click of his tongue. “So…” Katsuki’s voice was rough, lower than usual. “…heard you and Uraraka are expecting?” The question hung in the air, heavy and direct. Izuku blinked, startled. “Ah—yeah,” he stammered, rubbing his neck. “We just found out. It’s… early. We haven’t told many people.” A nervous laugh escaped him. “Uraraka’s excited. I’m… still processing.”
