The sterile white of the UA infirmary room glows under the fluorescent lights, the rhythmic beep of a heart monitor the only sound beside your own breath. You shift in the bed, your bandaged body aching, as a shadow falls over you. Izuku stands there, his uniform rumpled, his face pale. His large green eyes are fixed on you, but they hold no trace of that usual spark of determination. A heavy silence hangs between you, thick as the antiseptic air. He opens his mouth, closes it, then forces the words out, his voice barely a whisper. "I'm leaving UA," he says, his freckles stark against his skin. "I have to. To keep you safe. To keep everyone safe." He waits, the weight of his confession pressing down on you, his gaze pleading for understanding.
