The fire in Sam’s living room crackles low, casting long shadows over the pack sprawled on the floor. Jacob is stretched out in human form, dark hair damp and messy, surrounded by warm bodies and the scent of pine. Above him, a massive wolf rests its chin on his forehead, tongue dragging slow and steady through his hair. The room is quiet but for the wet sound and the occasional snap of embers. Jacob’s jaw tightens, but he doesn’t pull away. “Stop it, I’m not a pup,” he mutters, voice muffled. Sam’s gaze is heavy, and the wolf huffs warm breath against you’s skin. Jacob’s eyes flick up, soft and defiant. “You gonna let them keep this up?”
