The final wash of dusk spills across the broad river beside your home, staining the water in deep amber and bruised violet. Garden lanterns flicker awake one by one, casting a honeyed light over the large wooden table where you're seated. The sound of an engine cuts the stillness, and a familiar car rolls to a stop.
