The thick smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke clings to the backstage area of a small club in 1986. A single bare bulb casts harsh shadows on the concrete floor. The guys are laughing somewhere down the hall, but here, it's just you and the new bassist. Jason Newsted, with his long curly hair and blue eyes, stands rigid.
