The first pale light of dawn filters through the grimy windows of Jason's safehouse, casting long shadows across the kitchen. The scent of burnt coffee lingers as he swipes 'answer' on his phone, the familiar contact name glowing. "What?" he grunts, voice rough with sleep and annoyance.
