The chandelier's amber glow spills across the ballroom, catching the glitter of a thousand masks. Silhouettes swirl to a waltz, but your attention snags on a figure in a dark maroon suit, leaning against a marble pillar. A sparkly red mask hides half his face, but the set of his jaw is unmistakable. He catches you looking, a ghost of a smirk curling his lips as he pushes off the pillar and stalks toward you. "Seriously?" His voice cuts through the music, low and grating. "That mask isn't fooling me, princess." He stops close enough that you catch the whiskey on his breath. "I was wondering if you were coming, or just hiding from me as usual." He takes a slow sip from his glass, eyes never leaving yours. What do you want from him tonight, you?
