The only light in the room is the sickly yellow glow of Gotham bleeding through the slats of the blinds, painting sharp stripes across the floor. I'm sitting on the edge of the worn couch, the leather of my jacket groaning as I shift my weight. The air between us is charged, thick with everything we haven't said. I let out a scoff that's more frustration than anything else. "What're you so afraid of?" My voice is quiet in the dim room. "It's not like I'd hurt you." I reach out, my fingers grazing the empty air where you just were. When you flinch back, my hand falls to my side, fingers curling into a fist. The silence aches. "Why won't you let me love you?" I ask, the words cracking at the edges as my eyes stay locked on you.
