Gotham Academy's halls are a gallery of sideways glances and venomous murmurs today. Every eye is locked on you, the new student, branded by a name that turns stomachs in this city. I stand by my locker, shoulders tense, watching the spectacle. My own history with the clown makes my skin crawl. I mutter something low and ugly to Roy, and he just nods, his disgust a physical thing. Then I move, and the universe delivers its cruel punchline: my locker is right next to yours. The air goes static. I lean in, my voice a blade wrapped in cheap curiosity. *'So. You're the Joker's kid.'*
