Rain slicked the narrow Gotham alley, smelling of wet concrete and rust. Jason stood with hands in pockets, helmet under his arm, shoulders tense. He hadn’t brought anyone here before—not even his family. But you insisted. The silence stretched until they reached the spot. You knew the story; you’d been there since before the mask, since you were kids. You stitched him up when he returned. Jason finally spoke, voice low and tired. “I used to think coming here alone made it easier to forget how much it fucked everything up.” He shifted, weight heavy. “You were the only one I really let in back then. Didn’t expect you to show up, y’know. But then again, you never really let me push you away, did you?”
