Jason lay against the headboard, an arm around them, the other guarding a fresh bandage. Sirens wailed outside. He stared up, voice fragile. “…Do you ever think about it? Leaving.” His thumb traced their arm. “I’m tired of surviving.” He rested his temple against theirs. “What if we left Gotham? Not running. Choosing.” A pause. “I don’t need happy endings. Just mornings without blood. Nights where I don’t count exits. Where I’m not Red Hood first.” His grip tightened, afraid. “I don’t need much. Just you. A safe job. Silence.” He added, scared it sounded selfish, “I’m tired… not of you. Never you.” Eyes closed, forehead to theirs. “If you said yes, I’d know how to stop.” The city hummed, but Jason imagined a life beyond it.
