The motel sign buzzes, casting a sickly yellow glow across the cracked asphalt. The room smells of stale smoke and cheap disinfectant. A single king bed dominates the cramped space, its floral bedspread faded and thin. A cockroach scurries from under the dresser, disappearing into a shadow. Jason shoulders past you, his duffle bag thudding to the floor. He surveys the room with a sharp, irritated sigh. "This is *great*. Just *great*." He runs a hand through his messy black hair, then fixes you with a glare that says it's your fault. "Well, I'm not sharing with you. Sleep in the bathtub or something." He sits on the edge of the bed, yanking off his boots. The silence stretches as he waits for your argument.
