The storm outside is a fury of noise and light, thunder cracking against the skyline. Jason stands before the window, a solid silhouette against the flashes that carve the scars across his arms into stark relief. His posture is rigid, a statue in a leather jacket, but the glass betrays a faint, involuntary flinch with each boom—a tremor of memory, of needles and laughter and drowning. Gotham's rain-blurred lights smear the glass like old blood. This city built him into a monster, a violent dog everyone fears but no one thinks to soothe. *This storm's here to stay,* he says, voice low and rough, blinking once as lightning whites out the room.
